so i was listening to daft punk pretty much all day today when i should have been studying. to be fair i was trying to study with them on in the background. the problem being that these fuckers are too damn funky. so i was bored with an internet connection, so guess what, i googled the shit outta them. found pics of them unmasked too but really who wants to ruin the mystery..................................

their live set up is spectacular..............but more on that in a minute......................

these pics are of fellow frenchies justice, who are also immensely talented. they are using the same lemur controllers as daft punk now, cant blame them, sky is the limit musically with these things and these dudes.

what is up my chunky and hip amigos, dudes and dudettes.

my final uni exams are almost upon me, and i have been extremely busy. partly with studying, but mostly with messing around with daft punk samples. i know i havnt been around very much on the blogosphere lately, so i thought i would upload a lil daft punk homage mix. just me messing around with samples. its not amazing but i had fun with it and the beat is solid, it is still a daft beat after all. i wanted to upload it and stream it pon de blog, but blogger has other ideas......... so im uploading it to mediafire...im actually uploading as i type this, damn its slow. south african bandwidth really toys with my emotions. i have actually done quite a few mixes lately, most of them have a very summer time vibe and im happy with them for the most part. i wanna upload them for everyone, but they have some unreleased tracks and bootlegs in them which might not go down so well with people... its also gonna take a year to upload them all at this rate..........anyway..the 1st couple seconds sound odd, dunno why. it jumped or summin........ just follow the links. hope it gets ur head nodding, even if just for a nanosecond. do it do it do it..........................................

phoenix rising.......

so these dudes are in the band phoenix, phoenix are one of my favourite bands of all time.they are also french (i know, but give them a chance). these dudes are also pretty good pals with daft punk (my favourite duo of all time), in fact they are such good friends, that the two robots agreed to join the band on stage at madison square garden in late 2010, words cannot express how much i would have givven to have been at that show. anyway, they are mad cool, so check them out, you will be converted.

so, i know we have covered daft punk already up in this piece, but i found these, i thought it would help illustrate my point that they are a huge act, people go nuts for these guys.

these guys are daft punk, daft punk is house music. and when i say is, i dont mean that is just the kind of music they create, i mean it in the sense that they are the creators of a genre, pioneers. yes there were others involved, but for me, in house and electronic music,  there is no greater single influence, the yare part of every fan of electronic music, even if the fans do not know it themselves.
from kanye west to lcd soundsystem, everyone in popular music culture owes a lot to these two elusive frenchmen. yes they are french, dont let that put you off. they are as important to thier genre as well as to pop music as a whole as the beatles, tupac and biggie, bob marley and i really dont think im giving them too much credit. they are living legends, reclusive milionaires and truely gifted individuals. their live show is incredible and manage to do what few others can, play electronic music live.

daft punk give me chills, when i watch their live shows, when i see them throw up the pyramid, when they come on in my ipod. and the fact that they are by all accounts, robots, makes them so unique, im not sure anyone one else will ever come close.
